SERVICES OFFERED (CENTRE
AND HOME SUPPORT PROGRAM)
The Almage Senior Community Centre offers diverse services. The programs,
activities and services cover health promotion, educational/recreational
courses, and senior support services.
Most programs are offered free of charge. (See Volunteering) Activities/programs/services
may vary depending upon the interests of the membership.
- Health: Exercises, Dancing, Walking Group,
Foot Care, Flu shot clinic, Blood pressure clinic, Bowling and
workshops, etc.
- Educational/Recreational: French, Arts &
Crafts, Computer Courses, Cooking for one, Painting, Special events,
Fundraising events, Trips, Cards, Darts, Carpet bowling, etc.
- Senior Support Services: Community Meals,
Mini-Bus Transportation, Income Tax Clinic and Home Support Program.
The Home Support Program
at the Almage Senior Community Centre is open to English-speaking
seniors experiencing a loss of autonomy . The goal of the Home
Support Program is to help seniors enhance their quality of life,
to encourage their independence and autonomy, and to prevent premature
institutionalization.
The services available in the program include medical transport,
transport errands, accompaniment, friendly visit, friendly call,
information & referral, advocacy, etc…
Volunteering
We offer many essential and valuable
services to our senior population. Volunteers
may choose from a variety of programs which
suit their particular skills and interests. All our
volunteers receive ongoing support and
supervision from experienced professionals.
In addition, volunteers are encouraged to
participate in our training programs which
enhance interpersonal and helping skills,
making the volunteer experience a more
meaningful one.

personal growth, supervision and recognition.
